Designing Ministries That Help without Hurting
Since publishing the book, When Helping Hurts in 2009, the Chalmers Center has received countless questions from people who want to know how to create a ministry that helps without hurting.
The Chalmers Center’s Director of Innovation, Tabitha Kapic, and our Founder and President, Brian Fikkert, hosted a webinar yesterday on this very topic. Our team had a great time presenting our framework for designing effective poverty alleviation ministries with nearly 500 attendees and sharing how teams can work more closely with The Chalmers Center in this process.
One of the highlights of that training was sharing two of the tools that we use in our Innovate course. We were encouraged by how much people enjoyed learning to use the Journey Map and Issue Tree tools.
Because this segment resonated so strongly, we wanted to make the tools portion of the webinar available for people who weren’t able to attend. Just click the video below to watch.
How To Work More Closely with The Chalmers Center
Those who were on the call know that we covered a lot of ground. From asset based community development to God’s story of change to innovation and design thinking, we covered it all. At the end of our time together, we also shared how you can get coaching from the Chalmers Center as you work on creating a poverty alleviation ministry in your own community.
