How do I use a discount/coupon code?

If you have a discount code for one (or more) of our classes, you will enter this code during the payment process. Choose the course you want to take and click "Register." You'll be asked to log-in (or create an account) and then a payment window will appear. In the corner, there is a link "Have a coupon code?" Click the link and enter your code. The total amount should change to reflect your discount.

How do I pay for a course?

Select the course you would like to take from courses.chalmers.org. When you click "Register for this course," you will be asked to log-in. If you have not taken an online course with the Chalmers Center before, you will need to first create an account. After logging in, a payment screen will appear. If you have a coupon code , enter it before entering payment information. Enter your credit card information and click submit. You will then be registered into that class and can begin taking a look at the content by going to the "Path" tab.

How do I purchase access for multiple people?

How long do I have to finish a class?

All of our courses are self-paced, meaning that you can take as long as you'd like to complete. Of course, we do think that keeping your learning to a more defined timeframe will help more of it to "stick".

What is a "Take with your own group" ?

At Chalmers, we believe learning happens best when you do it with other people. Our online learning platform offers an easy way to learn in groups. All of our courses offer the option to create a private group where you and your group can learn together. In your private group, you can share discussion thoughts and ask each other questions. You can also make members of your group "moderators" who are able to track people's progress in a course-this isn't usually necessary in our courses, but some of our users find this helpful. You'll see the "Take with your own group" option for each class listed on the side menu of the "About" page. The group leader will need to purchase access for the entire group at once. After clicking "Register" a window will pop up that asks how many people are in your course. After submitting your payment information, you will have access to the course and can begin inviting members. You'll need their email address or you can send them an invitation link. You can access the "invite" option in various ways-it's at the top of the "Path" tab and they also send you a link in the email that is sent when you sign up for the course. Please note that some of our classes require a minimum number of members.

Do I need a group to take a course?

You don't need a group, but we highly recommend going through our courses with at least one other person. Learning happens best in community and our courses are designed to spark conversation. Find a friend, either online or in-person and you'll have a better learning experience. That being said, it is possible to register for a course as an individual. Many of our courses have open discussions so you can at least share thoughts with others who are taking the same course.

What's the difference between the Original & Online training?

The new landing page on our website has a side-by-side comparison, but in a nutshell: Our original certification trainings are made up of facilitators-in-training from around the country that's led by a Lead Trainer. The group spends 4 weeks interacting online before meeting over a weekend to network, see the curriculum modeled & practice their facilitation skills. We host a few of these a year in different cities. The stay-at-home (online) certification can be started anywhere at any time. A local group of leaders (can include both facilitators & allies) watches pre-recorded Lead Trainer instruction, completes assignments & practices on their own in their own community & at their own pace, providing video evidence of their practice facilitation to receive certification.

Why does the About page say that the cost is $45/person?

The short answer is that the price is $450 no matter what, but we'd like to encourage sites using the stay-at-home option to work together with volunteers who will help implement the class. We feel very strongly that the training should be completed with a group and we had to get a little creative with our pricing due to this focus. The learning system we use for the course allows us to have groups of up to 10 go through a course together, which is great, but they only bill courses at a per member rate. So we are trying to sweeten the deal by pointing out that more people you bring, the better the value!

Groups will get access to the same 4 sample sections as the live training groups; they are provided for practice in Unit 5. Facilitators certified online will be able to buy their Guides after they finish the course.

Our training happens online, so you can access it from anywhere at any time. You’ll watch videos and complete assignments using our online training platform. Once you sign up, we'll do our best to assign you to coaching calls that work best for your time zone and schedule.
