Chalmers Center Appoints Coy Buckley as President/CEO

The Chalmers Center, a leading Christian poverty alleviation organization known for its best-selling book, When Helping Hurts, proudly announces the appointment of Coy Buckley as its new President/CEO.

With an extensive background in microfinance and economic development, Coy Buckley brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the Chalmers Center’s mission of helping God’s people rethink poverty and respond with practical biblical principles so that all are restored to flourishing. His proven leadership, social impact expertise, and pastoral heart make him the ideal choice to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and innovation.

“I am overjoyed to welcome our incoming President/CEO, Coy Buckley, who will lead the next phase of growth for the Chalmers Center,” said Dr. Brian Fikkert, the founder of the Chalmers Center. “I believe the Lord has uniquely gifted Coy to build the bridge between where we have been and where we believe God is calling us to go.”

Fikkert continued, “In addition to having over a decade of experience as a microfinance practitioner, Coy brings a greater level of expertise at scaling than we’ve ever had before. With a theological orientation and commitment to the local church that mirrors that of Chalmers, Coy’s gifts and experiences uniquely equip him to lead Chalmers into increased kingdom impact in the years to come.”

Coy expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Chalmers Center, stating, “I am excited to be a part of the Chalmers’ team, an organization with a sterling reputation and wonderful history. I look forward to building on Chalmers’ existing programs to support churches and ministries around the world, and to prayerfully lead the organization forward as we seek new and creative ways to fulfill Christ’s call to love our neighbor, foster healthy communities and serve those in need.”

Coy Buckley succeeds Michael Briggs, who has served faithfully in the role of Executive Director for 10 years and will remain a member of the Chalmers Center team. Briggs shared, “I’m thrilled that Coy Buckley has been selected and called to be the Chalmers Center’s Chief Executive Officer and President. Serving as the Executive Director for the last ten years has been my joy, and I look forward to continuing my work here as Chief Development Officer under Coy’s leadership. Coy’s experience in scaling programs will be extremely valuable as we enter our next chapter of ministry. Beyond his experience, I’m most impressed by his compassion, integrity, commitment to family and his faithful walk with Christ. Join me in welcoming him!”

Please join us in welcoming Coy Buckley to the Chalmers Center. Together, we will continue to help God’s people rethink poverty and respond with practical biblical principles so that all are restored to flourishing.
