Helping people experience the dignity of sustaining work can be an effective way to address material poverty in a long-term, holistic way. 

But it’s easy to get wrapped up in the details of implementing a new program and miss the opportunity to rethink why people in under-resourced communities are struggling with unemployment and under-employment in the first place. [Hint: it’s probably not what you think.]

The Chalmers Center recently hosted a webinar called “Making Work Work: Why Most Advice about Work Doesn’t Work in Economically Challenged Communities.” Based on the response, we wanted to make the video available to our community.
