Shelley holds a ThM in New Testament from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and an MTS from Beeson Divinity School. She spent several years running her own digital marketing business. Shelley is active in her church, St. Elmo Presbyterian, and writes about the intersection between theology and everyday life. She and her husband, Hans, live in Flintstone, Georgia, with their son and daughter.
