Poverty is one of the biggest problems in our world today. But Jesus is making all things new! All over the world, churches and ministries are proclaiming the good news among the poor in word and deed.
Lifewater International is one of those ministries. For more than 40 years, they’ve brought clean water, improved health, and hope to women and children living in extreme poverty. Lifewater’s approach to this work was shaped by the principles in our bestselling book When Helping Hurts.
Lifewater hires local staff and partners with local churches, relying on their knowledge and cultural awareness. They invite village members to take leading roles in planning and managing projects, and ask them to contribute their ideas, labor, materials, and funding. They avoid bringing in outside resources by using local construction supplies, tools, and machines whenever possible.
"At Lifewater, When Helping Hurts is a staple resource and a guiding text for solving the water crisis.”
President/Chief Executive Officer
This year, we want to equip over 1,600 churches and ministries all over the world—and impact the lives of more than 130,000 people in poverty.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 towards these efforts by December 31st, 2018.
Our work is made possible through support from partners like you. Will you make your gift today?
Offering more than clean water
Lifewater recognizes that helping people in poverty works best when those people are a part of the process. So they don’t just show up in a village and do projects for people. Instead, they apply the principles in When Helping Hurts by doing things with people.
Those small steps make a big difference! Through this approach, Lifewater is helping people in poverty rediscover their God-given dignity and experience lasting change as they gain access to clean water and sanitation.
Lifewater is just one example of the churches and ministries that Chalmers has influenced. Over the last two decades, we’ve equipped tens of thousands of churches and nonprofits to help people in poverty in biblical, effective ways.
No less than 80 cents of every dollar you give will support the Chalmers Center’s programs.
Right now, you can multiply your gift even further! A generous donor has agreed to match your donations up to $50,000. That means your gift will have double the impact!
