POSITION SUMMARY: The Chalmers Center exists to equip the church to walk alongside people who are poor to break the social, spiritual, and material bonds of poverty. To fulfill this mission, the Center hopes to develop new, kingdom-centered innovations (KCI) and to empower churches and church-equipping organizations to create such innovations on their own. To help the Center achieve these goals, the Innovation Technician will focus on four areas up to 20 hours per week with the opportunity for more hours in the future:

  • Build and populate Chalmers’ Innovation database including gathering stories
  • Support the full KCI team with logistics, technology mastery and recommendations
  • Support Chalmers’ Innovation social media presence in cooperation with the rest of the organization
  • Become fluent in Chalmers’ innovation process and tools and develop a growing understanding of Chalmers’ approach to economic development

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To support the KCI team’s initiatives in the United States and Majority World.


  • Commits to pray and advocate for the poor and the church in light of the mission of the Chalmers Center
  • Consults with the KCI team and other appropriate members of Chalmers staff as they build and maintain a searchable tracking system (database) to track projects created using Chalmers’ innovation processes in U.S. and Majority World
  • Combs through files, emails and pictures to populate a database and contacts a wide range of people to follow up on what they did with KCI training
  • Captures photographs, artifacts and narratives from projects created using Chalmers’ innovation process
  • Support Chalmers’ KCI social media presence in cooperation with the rest of the organization to share stories and best practices around Chalmers’ innovation events, tools, and activities
  • Learns Chalmers’ innovation processes by participating in trainings
  • Provides logistical support for innovation training and events as needed
  • Learns KCI’s use of Google slides and sheets in order to be able to prepare session decks and virtual workspaces
  • Learns and then conducts the preparation required for KCI physical sessions, including supply wrangling, poster and other session preparation
  • Researches and recommends other platforms for innovation trainings
  • Other responsibilities as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative, cross-functional, team environment
  • Technologically capable of working in social media, database creation and maintenance, Zoom and other conferencing aids, Google Drive and software suite
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Desire to work out of a distinctively biblical framework
  • Ability to multi-task and organize
  • High attention to detail
  • Growing understanding of poverty alleviation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in multicultural settings
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of working time
