Chalmers Center
Ministry Partners and Related Organizations
The Chalmers Center is currently collaborating with the following organizations:
Breakthrough Partners
Breakthrough Partners is not project-focused but people-focused. We engage heavily in connecting leaders to other people, ideas and resources. Then we work shoulder-to-shoulder with them, consulting with them to identify plans of action and coaching them to work wisely, collaboratively, and faithfully for God’s will to be advanced on earth. Out of this pursuit emerges a process of restoration toward God’s intended purpose — a rebuilding of people, communities, and entire nations. The Breakthrough Partners strategy for transformation comes through working to:
- CONNECT. People to people, people to ideas, people to prayer, tools and resources for transformational work.
- CONSULT. Advise leaders in the design and execution of effective and biblical structures and strategies that demonstrate God's love for the whole of life.
- COACH. Encourage, train and mentor leaders in God-honoring wholistic transformational partnership.
Our conviction is that leaders are God’s gifts and assets for a given community to mobilize, inspire and lead the people to obey everything that God has commanded. Thus, local initiatives must be built upon the spheres of influence of the local leaders called and gifted by God and upon the assets of the community.
Five Talents International
Five Talents’ mission is to fight poverty, create jobs and transform lives by empowering the poor in developing countries using innovative savings and microcredit programs, business training and spiritual development.
Five Talents gives people the opportunity to lift themselves out of poverty by providing access to basic savings and microcredit services built on their trusted community traditions. We provide biblically-based business training to help the poor start small businesses and begin to build their future. Five Talents supports indigenous institutions working in microenterprise development and work primarily through the following services and programs:
• Consulting services, training and education for savings and microcredit programs.
• Materials that promote Biblical business principles.
• Loan capital for the poor.
Food for the Hungry
"To walk
with churches, leaders and families
in overcoming all forms of human poverty
by living in healthy relationship with God and His creation."
Food for the Hungry embraces an intensely personal and biblical response to God’s call to end physical and spiritual hungers worldwide. This intentional walk with the poor mirrors God’s walk with each of us, recognizing our own brokenness and His transforming grace that brings out our God-given potential.
What does the walk look like?
In short, it is coming alongside, helping and equipping:
Leaders: To solve problems in their community.
Churches: To meet the physical and spiritual needs in their community.
Families: To meet the physical and spiritual needs in their family
Freedom From Hunger
Founded in 1946, Freedom from Hunger is driven by a vision of a world free from hunger. Our mission is to bring innovative and sustainable self-help solutions to the fight against chronic hunger and poverty. Together with local partners, we equip families with resources they need to build futures of health, hope and dignity.
We are a nonprofit, nongovernmental, nonsectarian organization classified by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charity. As an international development organization, we provide tools, training and technical assistance to implementing organizations so that they may better serve the poor, particularly the very poor. Throughout our history, we have distinguished our approach towards achieving our vision and mission through innovation, collaboration, evidence of impact and—above all—a commitment to helping families achieve sustainable food security.
Global Church Advancement
The vision of Global Church Advancement is to see God glorified and his kingdom come among all nations through the global advancement of his church.
We believe that God has created all things and so all creation is good. But because of sin all things have fallen from that original state. But the good news is that God has begun the work of redemption for all things through the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus; and all things are now waiting to be restored by Him.
Our vision is to participate in the Holy Spirit’s work of restoration by seeking to make all things as they should have been. This vision is not limited to personal renewal but also includes new forms and structures in society and culture. Our desire is for GCA to be a redemptive agent of global shalom. This vision gives birth to our mission.
The mission of Global Church Advancement is to establish Kingdom Partnerships through which leaders are equipped to start, grow and multiply gospel-centered churches among all nations.
A Gospel-Focused Church focuses its ministry primarily on three things: 1) evangelism, 2) discipleship, and 3) societal transformation – sharing a Kingdom vision for the spiritual, social and cultural renewal of its region, nation and the world through the transforming power of the gospel in word and deed.
HOPE International
HOPE International is a network of microfinance institutions operating in 14 countries around the world. We work to empower men, women, and families to break the cycles of physical and spiritual poverty through the provision of loans, savings services, basic business training, mentoring, and discipleship. By incorporating a strong witness for Jesus Christ and by employing a variety of approaches to microfinance, HOPE is an innovator in the field of microenterprise development.
In its network, HOPE includes traditional microfinance programs, microfinance plus programs (which incorporate healthcare, literacy training, or other community empowerment initiatives outside the realm of traditional microfinance), savings-led microfinance programs, and small and medium enterprise development programs.
Our programs are effectively reaching nearly 250,000 entrepreneurs around the world with the love of Jesus Christ and the opportunity to start or expand a business. Network-wide, HOPE's programs boast a 99.6% repayment rate, pointing to the efficiency of HOPE's methodology.
Mission to North America
MNA serves PCA churches and presbyteries as they advance God's Kingdom in North America by planting, growing and multiplying Biblically healthy churches through the development of intentional evangelism and outreach ministries.
That God, by His grace and for His own glory, will transform the PCA into a grassroots church planting culture that is:
- exponentially reproducing a growing number of biblically healthy churches
- seeing these churches characterized by significant conversion growth and ministries of mercy
- reaching the diverse communities and people groups of North America
(1) To see all PCA churches become “houses of prayer for all the nations” (Mark 11:7), embracing a Great Commission vision characterized by proactive engagement with their communities through kingdom prayer, intentional evangelism, ministries of mercy and social justice, community involvement, church planting, and global missions.
(2) To see the PCA, beginning with its leadership, reflect the demographic makeup of North America by seeing churches planted and people coming to Christ from the many diverse communities and people groups in our land.
(3) To impact the centers of influence in North America which are defined as:
- Crossroads of society
- City centers and metropolitan areas
- Concentrations of cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity
(4) To see the PCA planting churches in the regions of North America where there is little reformed and evangelical presence.
Mission to the World
Mission to the World is the mission-sending agency of the Presbyterian Church in America, helping to fulfill the Great Commission by advancing Reformed and covenantal church-planting movements through word and deed in strategic areas worldwide.
MTW advances the work of the body of Christ worldwide through a wide variety of word and deed ministries by identifying, selecting, training and sending men and women and integrating these into church-planting movements. We minister among unreached people groups in world-class cities as well as hinterland areas, partnering with national churches and indigenous leaders whenever possible. MTW also partners with local PCA churches to glorify God through the discovery and engagement of their unique potential, purpose and passion for cross-cultural ministry.
