As a department of Covenant College (www.covenant.edu), the Chalmers Center is part of an institution that is required to achieve extremely high governance, operational, and fiduciary standards in order to satisfy its accrediting agency, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. These standards well exceed those typically required for a non-profit agency, ensuring that donors to the Chalmers Center are ensured of scrupulous financial practices and an unusual degree of institutional stability. All gifts to the Chalmers Center qualify as charitable donations for tax purposes, since Covenant College is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a non-profit agency. The entire college, including the Chalmers Center, is audited annually to ensure federal compliance.
The Executive Director of the Chalmers Center reports to the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, who reports to the President, who reports to the Board of Covenant College. In addition, the Chalmers Center is in the process of forming an Advisory Council to provide further advice, advocacy, and accountability.
